I just wish that stuff like THIS, and the stuff from the Duel of the Fates script that was legitimately GOOD would have been ported over, despite the change in hands. (Ahem - Kira > Rey, Sam > Finn were JJ-only additions as a departure from Arndt)
People are known to change character names willy-nilly for that exact reason. This essentially encourages any new writing team that comes on to throw away as much of the preceding script as possible, to maximize their paychecks - even if it's at a detriment to the story. So, in TROS, JJ and Terrio got the majority of the $$$ and the credit, while Trevorrow and Connolly were relegated to "Story by" credits, thus getting less money. If you share "top-line" screenwriting credits with another person's version of the script, the money is shared between you. Kind of a side-rant on how this business works when it comes to story credits.Įssentially, the more credit you have, the more money you're poised to make. Sits down with his grandson, and talks to him about the pursuit of power, how the dark side will never be enough, and why Darth Vader's greatest achievement was dying and becoming Anakin Skywalker. But Anakin instead comes to him as The Chosen One. The man Kylo knew and idolized as Darth Vader, the infamous legendary sith.
or maybe not, maybe Palpatine's about to use his latest greatest superweapon, and realizing everything he did was for nothing. My ideal scene would be Kylo, mortally wounded, seeing his plans fall to pieces, maybe as good wins over evil, light over dark, etc. Unironically, I was really hoping for a heart to heart between Anakin and Kylo along the lines of what we got between Han's memory and Kylo.
